As recorded in the first chapter of the Acts of the Apostles, Jesus Christ shared an expansive vision of ministry to those who were to watch him ascend into heaven: “You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” It is our privilege to consider God’s call to us as a local church—ministry to our neighbors and the fine people of Ascension Parish, those who live in the greater Baton Rouge area, the people of our nation, and others everywhere in the world.
